With the start of 2020, many of us had plans to do something great this year. We thought that it would be the most excellent year ever as the markets were on the peak, the unemployment rate was down, and industries were growing at their full potential. Suddenly it all went out of the window as COVID-19 Pandemic emerged. It collapsed everything as people were forced to stay in their homes. Many companies are forced to work in a virtual environment, supply chains were disturbed, and consumerism is all over the map. There is hardly an industry that isn’t affected by this situation. Sales professionals also face a tough time in this situation as the sales are also down these days.
Here are a few tips that can help sales professionals to cope up with this situation and stay positive and motivated.
- Look at goals
With the start of 2020, you may have formed your goals to achieve significant milestones this year. But due to COVID-19, it may not be possible to accomplish all of those goals because of the whole world under quarantine right now. Being a sales professional, you must stay calmed and rethink your goals. Instead of giving up, re-write your goals, and set them according to the current situation. No one knows what is going to happen in the future, so you should focus on the current situation and decide how you can get the best out of this situation.
- Have a daily plan
During the COVID-19, when the whole world is facing situations like lockdowns, and you are forced to stay in your homes, you have no other choice but to work virtually from your homes. So it would help if you had a daily plan. You have to make a checklist that how many calls you have to make each day, how many emails you have to send each day, and how customers you will be dealing with each day over phone calls or emails. Then at the end of the day, you must assess yourself that either you achieved your today’s goal or not. By doing this, not only you ll keep yourself busy but also focused on your work.
- Reach out to all clients
You must realize that your clients are also suffering from this situation. So what you can do is reach out to them and listen to their problems. Do regular follow-ups with them how are they doing and express your sympathy towards them. It will help you to develop your positive image and trust for your clients, and they will be pleased to get your services again.
- Prospect
You can take it as an opportunity and reach out to other companies that you haven’t worked with before. As we know that sales of all companies are going down so, they will need assistance from someone that can help then in getting more sales during this Pandemic. You can reach out to them and let them know that they can have you as a backup and can get your services any time they need. It’ll provide you with many opportunities to work with most of the well-known companies.
- Self-Development
You are staying at home, and you have got much free time. Instead of wasting this time on enjoyment and entertainment, you can utilize it for personal development to increase your skills. You can research new sales techniques, read informative books and guides, start one-on-one sales coaching, and take online courses to enhance your skills as a sales representative. In your usual routine, you don’t get time to spend on your personal development. But, now that you have got time, you should utilize it and make it beneficial for you.
- Get Healthy
While staying at home, all-day staying healthy also becomes a challenge. You must keep yourself healthy these days and must maintain a healthy routine. You can do this by eating a healthy diet, doing some regular exercise, and taking a walk daily. It will not only help you to stay healthy, but it will also keep you focused on your goals and strengthen your mind too.
- Have a positive attitude
A positive attitude is all that you need in this kind of situation. If you have a positive attitude, then it will help not only you but also people in your surroundings to get through this difficult time. When you talk to the people in your surroundings or with the customers on a phone call, then you must ensure that you share your positive energy with them and motivate them also to stay positive in this Pandemic. Don’t forget to talk about positivity and help them in getting rid of their negative thoughts. It would be best if you thought of this as a personal response-ability
These are some tips that I use for myself also when I work with sales professionals during my coaching program and motivational speeches. I implemented all these tips and got positive results. You should also consider these tips in your daily routine and follow them so that you can improve your living during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
